    Excellent! Right In Between....
I do not know what the NORMAL AAX X-Celerator hats sound like--these are from the 2004 Vault Tour. And they are 14-inch hats, not 15s. BUT the tone and pitch of these hats is slightly lower and a little darker than I expected, which is exactly what I wanted. Having used Zildjian hats my entire career--K's and A's--I really was looking for a great in-between character that Zildjian didn't seem to offer--something between a modern dark tone of my K Customs and the brightness and sizzle of my A Mastersounds. I looked at the Mastersound hats from Zildjian's K, A Custom and A lines and was not pleased with the sound. I even thought to buy a Z Mastersound bottom for my 1959 K's. But then I walked my mouse over to Sabian and found that the AAX line offers the perfect mix! You might assume the AAX line could be identical in sound and character to Zildjian's A Custom line, but trust me: they are not; they occupy their own little niche somewhere in between the Zildjian lines. Like the B20 Zildjian lines, this set of hats is also a superior B20 cymbal pair, but they just sound different than what Zildjian offers. As far as quality and craftsmanship: Sabian is a leader in the industry for good reason. And this set of hi hats testifies to Sabian's place in the global pantheon of cymbalsmiths.

    Destined to be a classic
What is most unfortunate is that this CD is out of print. And I have spoken with Metropolis about it and they have no intention of rereleasing it. That being said, it is filled with a great and broad-spectrum cross-section of their early artists. You'll find a great mix of 'Blood' by Numb (aka, Don Gordon) as well as the German-language version of Soylent Green, by Wumpscut. Other sounds included are Front Line Assembly, Snog, and the techo-influenced Haujobb, among others. Terminal Sect's 'Backward Effigy' is as strong as a foot-pumping dance-floor anthem can get. As is Funker Vogt's 'Killing Fields.' Without a doubt, if you are a fan of Industrial music, this is a must-have CD for any collection. And being that it is out of print makes it that much harder to find. Some sellers know this and jack the price up. But I got mine for less than $20, postage-paid.

    Can't Go Wrong
Fantastic mic. EQ-ed right out of the box. I use Audix all around my drum kit. The clarity is excellent and the rejection of nearby instruments is awesome. It is designed for a floor tom--even an 18 inch floor tom. So if you have floor toms, use this mic, not the D2 or D6 on them.
