Tora Tiger
1 of 1 found this helpful Ive always enjoyed this movie for the historical and both sides of the story view. Its docu-drama so its a bit stale at times but the acting is ok. Ive seen clips of this movie in tv shows and the movie Midway but avoid Midway at all cost. Its horrible and so is the film Pearl Harbor. This film is the best about the attack on Dec. 7th 1941. The attention to detail in Tora goes far beyond what most movies dont even consider.
TORA TORA TORA is basically just the facts, there it is. Lots of gaps are left out during this era of empires but it would have been a 10 hr film if the original script was kept.
The bonus DVD is great and worth the purchase. With documentaries and old Movie News reels you get the complete package.

Attention all hands. Abandon this film
Horrible movie. If you want the same kinda of plot try DARK BLUE WORLD. Set in England during the battle Britain. Its two movies in one really. A very good film that came out the same time as PH. Pearl has so much artistic freedom its strays from reallity way too much. Attention to detail was lost as well. Stay away from this capsized turd. Director cut wont make this film any better. Notice there`s no blood in the water while the sailors were being strafed?? A historic advisor wouldnt have hurt either.

As close as a movie can get.
Rarely is a movie better than the book. Kubrik is spot on w/ this film. Outdoes Platoon which came around the same time but was overshadowed by Hollywood hype kind of in the way Thin Red Line was over shadowed by Saving Private Ryan. Kubrik turned the London docks into Hue City and I thought they were in SE Asia.
Amazing.
