Genious!
2 of 2 found this helpful I was dozing in front of the television one evening when I awoke to the sound of birds. I caught the last few minutes of this documentary on PBS and was very interested in what I had just seen. After a little bit of research, I ended up buying this brilliant movie.
A massive undertaking by a French film maker, "Winged Migration" does not disappoint. Many of these birds were "trained" to be accustomed to the presence of nearby aircraft such as ultralight planes, gliders, balloons and helicopters. This results in the natural behavior of many, many species during their migrations to and from their winter homes. The scenery is breathtaking and the photography is nothing short of amazing. There is very little narration in this film. The birds are truly the stars of the show.
At a recent birthday party, I decided to put this movie in the dvd player for a little bit of background ambiance. Before long, every eye in the house was looking in amazement at the scenes unfolding on the television screen. For young and old alike, it is a guaranteed attention grabber.
A person would have to be comatose not to enjoy this movie!
