Star Wars 1981 Vintage Kenner Vehicle Maintenance Energizer Mini Rig ~ Complete
22 October 2015
"The ultimate power in the universe"
Despite the age of these items, they seem to be as relevant and useful today as they were when they were first produced. For Star Wars Collectors/fans, this is a must have piece of memorabilia. Whether your using it for a diorama, collectors piece for display or a toy for your playing pleasure, it will function perfectly in all applications. The only reason I give this a 4 star rating and not a 5, is because of the stickers. If you get one that was used and NOT sealed in the box, and you want to actually display or use it in a diorama; then you may have issues with the stickers not staying in place. Had these energizers been painted instead, they'd been much more enduring. As for the accessories, the different wrenches/tools are very cool but often have 1 or 2 missing. The hoses are ok for what they do, but the suction cups don't always stick well and if your trying to use them in a diorama, look a bit silly when not attached. I guess that's why many are altered. All in all though, the mini rig is an excellent piece and I highly recommend getting one. If you can get it at a REASONABLE price it's well worth it.
Eaglemoss - Star Trek KT Inga-Class Battle Cruis [New Toy] Figure, Col
03 January 2021
It's Ok
This is not the best representation of the vessel, that Eaglemoss has done. I've seen pictures of the #7 K'T'inga class model they did and the paint apps were much better. This one seems to be mostly based on the first Star Trek Movie (The Motion Picture), but it is missing the insignia and color variation details on the top of the fuselage as shown on page 13 of the miniature booklet that comes with this model variation. There are also some minor sculpting detail differences on the bottom of the fuselage on both the neck and main hull area near the front curvature points. The sensor dome is also slightly different. This difference is even greater in the cover picture of what appears to be Chancellor Gorkon's flagship (Kronos One). The booklet elaborates on the color scheme difference and nacelle color differences so this variation wouldn't represent that vessel. A better designation of this model is recommended to reflect it's distinction as the Motion Picture variant, and of course by adding the missing paint apps at a minimum, this could be a much better representation. Over all it's an OK model with a surprisingly significant amount of sculpt detail for such a small scale. It's not far enough off the mark to dismiss it as a nice representation, but, it's not as pleasing to the eye as the #7 model I first spoke of. Additionally, my model has a bent neck so it's very distracting when looking at it from the side. The plastic material used has either warped somehow in the packaging, or it was a quality control oversight. This defect can only be rendered moot by displaying the model from a slightly higher than eye level view with a front facing orientation point. If this defect weren't so prevalent, I'd not have issue displaying it next to some of the others I own. I have to say though, I much prefer the Klingon Concept D-4 model Eaglemoss produced. When sitting side by side with this model it really stands out. The colors and details are stunning on that model and the scale is almost identical so when you place them next to each other it is very easy to see the difference in the amount of care and attention to detail. I find it hard to recommend buying this model, simply because there are other renditions of the D-7 that Eaglemoss has produced that are better representations. Larger scale, better paint and sculpting details really make a difference. I guess if you don't have any of the other variants, and you don't have the time, money, or patients, to wait to get one of those, then this is better than nothing. I actually got mine in a multi purchase deal and really wasn't looking to buy this edition, (as I said there are others that are more appealing to me) but it was part of the package so that's how I came to obtain it. With that said, my review may be jaded but I felt compelled to share my thoughts in hopes it might help someone to make up their mind if they're on the fence.
Battlestar Galactica: Razor Toyrocket Exclusive Cylon Warrior Action Figure
05 October 2015
Up-graded Toasters
These action figures are a must have for die hard Battlestar Galactica fans. While I'm not a big fan of the new "re-imagined" series, I do like SOME of the updated ideas from the series. This is a great example of that. The updated look of the Original Series Cylon is exactly what many of us older fans had hoped to see. It actually looks like the menacing robot it was intended to be, while still staying true to the original concept. This figure does an excellent job of capturing that and has REALLY great details. Lots of articulation for posing and a weapon that fits well in its hands. The only problem I've seen is that if the joints aren't stiff or if they get worn, then it needs some help standing up. While the weapon does fit in the hands and stays in place, the stock is just a bit too long to put into certain poses. (The doll is a nod to the Razor episode but useless and unnecessary). The packaging is more than adequate but removing the figure can be a little tedious as the twist ties can get caught up in the figure and make it difficult to free up. All that said, I still find this to be a great piece for the adult collector. It looks awesome when posed with the Cylon Centurion and stirs the imagination as to what could have been for fans of the Old Series.
