"Inexpensive, but not a good value"
This printer prints well when if works, but it has a constant problem with the ink jets needing to be cleaned. The major concern is that when you install new EPSON print cartridges, the printer will not recognize them, and you have to run a clean printer heads several times before the comprinter accepts the EPSON cartridge. You will be given instructions several times saying the cartridge is not recognized, you need to remove and reinstall the cartridge. Then it will print, but often leaves one or two lines that are fuzzy and not distinct. This is my 2nd WF3640 printer. I debated getting the same printer, but it had received acceptably positive reviews and I assumed the problems I was having with the first printer was idiosyncratic with that printer, and a new printer would be better. But it is not. I have exactly the same problems with this printer that I had with the original printer. IT took 2 of us (one being a professional computer programmer) over an hour working together to get a legitimate print copy with the black ink cartridge. Now it is working 90% of the time, but occasionally I still have to run a second copy to get a clear printed copy Do I recommend it? I have severe doubts about the dependable quality of the printer.

Fighting Words-- (Fighting about the wrong thing!)
Avalos is a very competent scholar who looks at the violent language in the various Biblical texts and stories, then argues that this type of language is often the cause of violent behaviors in our day. I do not argue with that premise, but I do have concerns about the way Avalos builds his case, and the assumptions he seems to have in reading the texts. As a confirmed Theological Pacifist (Mennonite Church) and Professor of New Testament (Goshen College), I wonder about whether he reads the Biblical text too literally, thus not allowing for imagery, Jewish hyperbole, or simply seeing the language as it was spoken in the first century. For me, as difficult as the language can be (and here Avalos is quite right) I would suggest that the greater problem is how contemporary Christianity accepts this language and imagery and then runs with it to validate violent responses to live. The issue is not so much the language itself, as the way we interpret and apply the language. Avalos tends to want to close the Biblical account, discount the message, and find a new basis for a more peaceful message. I agree with him in his desire for a more peaceful message, but I read the Bible far less literally than he does. He seems (I am not absolutely sure) to accept the contemporary reading of the text as being an accurate reflection of what the mind of the writer was trying to say. With that I disagree, because I find fault more with the way the text is interpreted than with the fact that the text supposedly says what Avalos thinks it is saying. Thus I can read past some of the Biblical images to see its message in the first century setting, where Jesus uses these images because they are accepted in 1st Century--but Jesus makes the strong point of rejecting violent responses. Thus if we can that much of Protestant Christianity is misreading the message, then we would see that reinterpretation actually means restoration of the original. Thus discarding the original is not the solution---proper reading and reinterpretation would be more faithful. For a basic study of violent language in the Biblical texts, Avalos provides an excellent treatment of texts and meanings. I am not persuaded that his interpretation of the texts accurately reflects the intention of the writers when they wrote. But Avalos certainly provides the material for vigorous discussion.

    Christian Theology
This book came through in excellent condition (new) and in good time. Very well pleased. McGrath is one of the creative, thoughtful theological writers who approaches the material with an open, exploring mind that has integrity and academic credibility.
