ALIEN STORM --- SEGA GENESIS
27 September 2016
A good arcade port
As was the case with the original Golden Axe, this, originally in arcades, game was ported to the Sega Genesis almost flawlessly. Go in a journey to rid the earth of invading aliens as one of the three members of the Alien Busters team. If you look closely, the male and female characters resemble the Golden Axe protagonists and that is purposedly so you can immediately tell how you are to play the game. The last member is a robot which replaces the original dwarf. Gameplay is divided between Golden Axe like side scrolling beat them up, side scrolling "avoid the obstacles" run and chase and first person "shoot the aliens and save civilians" segments in which you can pretty much destroy everything in sight. You have your regular button-mash attack, the running attack, run and then jump and the roll and then attack, all of which are useful to either decimate opposition or tackle on the game bosses for optimal survival. You also have a super attack (like tha magic in Golden Axe) which can be used as long as you have energy left which is left behind by some of the defeated aliens or easily obtained during the first person shooting segments, provided you destroy everything in sight to find it. If you lose all your energy, your characters will resort to very basic attacks with their now useless weapons which are even more hilarious. Attack animations, both yours and the aliens' are amusing and sometimes even funny. This is a lighthearted beat them up + a bit of shooter game, but it can be challenging at higher difficulties (you can bring a buddy for two player alien mashing sessions). Go hunt some alien scum and save the planet while having a laugh.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope International PS3 New Playstation 3

Old School Action-JRPG
Star Ocean is one of those Action-JRPGs sagas that you either love or hate from the start due to the commitment you have to put into it. The game itself is loaded with story, either to be read or watched through cut-scenes, so if you are not willing to sit through a lot of those, this might not be for you. Playstyle is real time action, as you move through the fields and fight monsters. You can get other characters to join your quest and can play as them by switching between them while in battle. Each of those characters have their own fighting style and mechanics so you need to learn to play them as some are more effective controlled by you in certain situations, rather than driven by the AI. You can assign them "combat behaviours" to be used when you are not actively using them. As its predecessors, this game also features crafting which is needed if you want to get the best gear. This versión contains all of the content that was released for the Xbox versión in one disc and some exclusive to the PS3 version's features. This game is involved and requires dedication if you want to see all that it has to offer. Save points are scarce and sometimes you can play for a couple hours before seeing one so careful planning on not dying is crucial. Graphics suffer some slowdown during battle due to a multitude of special effects when attacking with some special moves and special combo attacks. Graphics are also not ultra detailed, but that's to be expected of a game this size. Expect to invest at least 35 hours minimum into this one even if you are good at this type of game.

King's Field II 2 (Sony PlayStation 1, 1996) PS1 Complete Tested & Works EUC

King's Field... You know it's harsh...
Continuing on the tradition of its predecessor, this game is completely unfair to beginner players, frustration source to the intermediate and hard on the seasoned players. It is touted as one of the inspirations for the Dark Souls series so you know it is HARD. There's also the issue with the controls... They are NOT bad... They will take getting used to them because there's no analog stick support so you "aim" by using the shoulder buttons. Also, it takes its control scheme from early FPS' like DOOM so you will need to learn to circle strafe your opponents unless you like dying... A LOT. This game is at the very least twice as big as the previous one, so if you want to really find everything the game has to offer, be prepared to offer it a good 60+ hours... If you know where to look for that is, as deeper explorations depend on the things you find and the weapons/magic/levels you get. Once you get the best gear and have the best magic does it become a cakewalk? NOPE... Unless you cheat, this game won't grant you any reprieve, no matter if you are level 99. Highly recommended if you cannot get the previous versión since it is becoming increasingly more expensive and rare.
