Mary Eleanor Bowes, Countess of Strathmore
This is the second recent biography of this unfortunate lady. More detailed and better researched than the first.
Provides a fascinating insight into the social and legal systems of the later 18th C.
Though never realising it, she was an early pioneer for women's rights.

Very well written . Easy to read and extensively researched.
Compelling reading giving enormous insight into the plight of the female sex and the legal system in the latter 18th century.

It is very readable, and set in a location I know well. The way Amanda farms is reflected in her writing style. No frills, clear and absorbing.
