STING LOVES, DOES AND KNOWS JAZZ
This is actually one of my favorite Sting CD's and I have them all! He is good enough to surround himself with some of the finest jazz musicians in the world. He has had Vinnie Coaliutu on drums, Omar Hakim (Weather Report) on drums, Wynton Marsalis on Sax and Kenny Kirkland one of the greatest keyboardists ever. These guys have always worked around Sting's style, but on this album, Sting works in their style and the tracks take on a whole new life to them. If you are a jazz/fusion fan you will love this album. The musicianship is second to none and Sting's voice sounds amazing in these jazz arrangements.

Talk about pre-dating the 70's fusion era!!!
If you put this album on and played everything sans "Willie the Pimp" people would think it's either Mahavishnu or one of the other prog/fusion groups of the 70's. The last person they would think it is would be Frank Zappa. Between Ponty on violin or just the charts themselves this album is a gold classic. Zappa started getting better players who could handle his difficult arrangements and it's nice to hear the man who once said, "Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny!-"Zappa Live at the Roxy and Elsewhere actually play it.

still incredible after all these years
Some of the material is dated but by and large a lot of it is very very good. Check out the personnel on this CD and you'll see a true all star band
