Beast! Worth the price? Very likely. Excellence isn't cheap.
1 of 1 found this helpful Beast! I replaced my 15 year-old incandescent 60 lumen E2D and this has been worth it. Before I sing the praises, the only problem is the longer profile (~1.5 cm), though this doesn't impact the balance in your hand. If you hadn't owned the shorter incandescent, you wouldn't know. (The biggest downside is that the new E2D won't fit in pants with a special flashlight/spare mag, thin Velcro pocket). The construction is solid, the gaskets feel solid and everything feels just perfect. I was unsure how I would like the "2-way" clip (I feared it would be flimsy) but it appears to be working very well thus far for attaching to pants pockets in either head up or head down configuration. Now, onto why you are reading...the light! I like the balance achieved between intense spotlight and broad coverage at 1000 lumens. The ability to have a 5 lumen "all purpose light" is fantastic and the 5 lumes seems much brighter than I thought it would be and is perfectly suitable for everyday use. The on/off button features solid construction and works as well as the 15 year old antecedent. While I haven't tested the 1000 lumen output with any scientific gear, I did do side-by-side comparisons of Chinese-made 300 lumen $30 flashlights, as well as a solid American-made replacement LED for my old 6P made by Malkoff (~$50). No question Surefire was #1 in brightness, clarity and uniformity. Malkoff was solid, but not as bright, but head and shoulders above the Chinese-made Pelican. Though pricey, the Surefire is true to its pedigree and is the last flashlight I'll need to buy. Now if only they would make better options for single-AAA LEDs...

so far, so good. easy install (quick 5-10 min/wheel), solid brake performance. swapped out only pads (not rotors) and all is good.
