Wiring can be an issue with setup.

What a great product. Everything you need to install it and then some. Easy install. It was not clear anywhere in the instructions about if you need the battery for the system to work with hard wiring. Yes, you do need the battery installed for the unit to work and the hardwiring does not maintain or charge the battery. With hardwiring the battery is just backup. And the other thing they don't tell you is if you set the Ring up with the battery before installing it with hardwiring, you need to do setup again or the status will say the unit is running on battery and the unit will not work. Not sure if it is running on wired power or not when it says on battery power, but the unit would not work. Oh, and I could not get the unit to work at all wired with the battery in until I did set up with the unit installed and wired.
