    gentle and soothing
I've used the bare escentuals face rev-er upper and had mixed results (the mineral make up seemed to "cake" on top of it, whereas it went on smoothly without it; I eventually learned I had to put the rev-er upper on about 15 minutes before the rest of my makeup. I LOVE the eye rev-er upper as I haven't noticed any problem putting it on and immediately using concealer and eye shadows/liners. The product is very gentle (I have super sensitive skin and am prone to allergies and breakouts and soothing, almost lightly cooling, when I put it on. It soaks in well and leaves a nice prep base for under eye concealer and eye shadow/liner. I sometimes use a BM eye shadow as liner, and I've found that both liner and shadow stay on longer when I am using this product. I also experience less smudging or traveling of the liner/shadow. Essentially, the concealer stays where it is supposed to and the liner/shadow stays where it is supposed to but without a sharp line between the two. Moisturizes skin under eyes, too. Well worth the money as it moisturizes, helps "set" under eye makeup without caking, and extends the length of time your under eye concealer and liner/shadow last. That makes this a 3 in 1 product for a great price!

    A Compelling True Story
Until reading this book, I was unaware of the disaster of the Whaleship Essex, probably the most notorious disaster at sea prior to the sinking of the Titanic. The book reads like great fiction, but the author regularly provides detailed information on subjects a modern reader wouldn't know. I found it fascinating that Herman Melville, a whaleman, read the story of one of the survivors of this disaster and that it very well influenced his work on Moby Dick. This is one of those great books where, even though you know generally what will happen, it doesn't matter. The author's writing style keeps you glued to the book to find out exactly how events transpired and how they impacted those who survived. This book is one of the better nonfiction stories I've read in a while.

Great tips and pictures, but title is misleading
I bought this book because I was looking for ideas on how to maximize the use of space in my small home with small rooms. The title's reference to "small space living" led me to believe this book would focus on how to use space wisely in small rooms (e.g., 10' x 12' foot bedrooms, 7' x 12' foot dining room, 8' x 11' kitchen). I was disappointed when I opened the book and read that the author considered small space living as living areas of 2500 square feet or less. To me, 2500 square feet is a lot of space! Also, most of the pictures and descriptions focus on open floor plans, not "small spaces," and the author repeatedly talks about how opening up space makes a room feel more spacious. Well, that's great, but I expected a book with "small space living" in the title to recognize the limitation many of us have in not having or being able to create a large, open floor plan. There are some good tips in this book on what you can do to use space wisely, and some of the pictures do show smaller rooms. But, there are a disproportionate number of pictures of large, open areas that are so large that there are open areas of maybe 100 square feet in the room that is not used at all - not an option if you truly live in a small space. Overall, the text is better than the pictures, but I like a book that both describes how to use space in writing and with pictures. I think this book would be an excellent book for someone with a home with approximately 2000 square feet or more and/or the ability to open up spaces to create a more open floor plan (and still having at least 1500 square feet, probably more). I guess it all comes down to your definition of "small space living."
