1942-D Jefferson Nickel MS-66 5FS Super High Grade & Wonderfully Toned ! Offers
16 October 2018
Bargain Hunters Delight!
Due to the scarceness of horded rolls the 1942-D nickel is considered to be as hard to find in uncirculated condition as the 1939-D. With a mintage of 14million the 42-D is considered on par with the 39-D and surpasses the 38-D,38-S, 39-S and 50-D all with mintages below 5million. The 1942-D nickel I purchased has beautiful rainbow toning and grades MS66FS and was purchased for only $75, listing at $160 shows that this is a little known rarity that can be gotten at a bargain price (see photos included).

1994-P Jefferson Nickel - NGC SP69 - SPECIMEN -ALMOST FULLY WHITE - #44
14 October 2016
Investment Nickel
When the mint issued the 1994 Jefferson Coin and Currency Set they included a gem Nickel with the set , a Matte Finish proof Nickel with a mintage of only 169,000. To compare this to a normal proof of 1994 with a mintage of 3,269,923 displays how rare or scarce thiis Matte proof is. Smart investors broke open the set and graded the coin with most being graded at SP69 or SP70. I challange anyone to consistently tell the difference between a SP69 and a SP70 , they are both beautiful nickels.
At present a SP 69 lists for $85.00 and a SP70 for $850, both can still be purchased for a third of that price. When the Jefferson Nickel Series gets the respect it deserves from collectors I feel that the price will reflect it's low mintage and beauty. The trick is to find a All White sample which is getting harder as time goes on due to the placing of the nickel in the set by the Mint, the reverse of the nickel almost always tones a light to dark golden brown. Those who graded their nickel shortly after 1994 had the better opportunity to acquire a All White Nickel. When the coin album makers start to include spots for the 1994 and 1997 Matte proof nickels there will be a rush of appreciation for these beautiful nickels and the price will climb as demand climbs. It's time to put aq few Coin and Currency sets aside while the price is very reasonable and hunt for all white nickels!
