Apparent plug design change caused these not to work properly

Apparently Apple changed the specs on the plug. The spacing on the rings are different than the original ones that I have, therefore, when you plug it into the Jack, the left channel sounds like it’s way off in the distance. If I pull the plug out very slightly, I can hear both channels clearly. I ordered 2 sets that were brand new and both sets of EarPods did the same on multiple devices that I tried them on.
