Great sound and decent surround sound effect!
Product is excellent quality and gives adequate surround sound effect in my big family room. Very powerful and loud and I can hear the dialogue in my movies finally!! Only drawback is you need the remote control to work all functions including basic ones like volume and power. Remote is tiny in size and easy to displace. But overall a quality sony product.

Great family movie while still being irreverent.
These days, you've got to appreciate a family-friendly movie that doesn't pander to political correctness or carry out some formulaic, sugary-sweet theme. This one is for the elementary schoolers as well as the parents and hits the sweet spot for us 40-something, former hard rock lovers. Jack Black gives his funniest performance since High Fidelity and it's not too far from his real-life persona in his own band Tenacious D. Joan Cusack is great as the wound-too-tight principal and the kids give some endearing performances as well. Of course, the viewer needs to suspend some reality but at least it's not an over-the-top, kids-conquer-all type endeavor. Dig the soundtrack and the title song too!

Deniro in a rare and classic comedic performance!
As a huge fan of mob movies, in particular those that star Deniro, it was fun to see a faithful send-up of the genre with a genuinely good premise and great acting. Deniro has done some real doozies in the past decade or so, but he always shines in anything mob-like. His last quasi-comedic performance was in "Jackie Brown" but he basically mumbled through the entire event. That leaves one of his best, memorable comedic performance as "The King of Comedy", circa 1980 until "Analyze This", a close second. The supporting cast his hilarious too, Crystal, Palmentieri (also always great in Mob roles ) and the guy who plays "Jelly" - all spot on. In addition, all of the cameos (many who are familiar faces in dramatic mob movies) appear to revel in their roles. Just plain, mob-by fun!
