The magic is back again
It's very hard to follow up a smash hit first effort, like Here There Be Dragons. James A. Owen did that and more with The Search for the Red Dragon. It's wonderful to see the characters from the first book come back, like old friends. There is a new adventure, with new allies and new adversaries. Like in the first book, we meet people that seem familiar to us, but are cast here in a new and different light. If you're reading this review, it's common knowledge that the three main characters - the caretakers of the Imaginarium Geographica - John, Jack and Charles, are the three original "inklings"; J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams, though long before they gained fame with their seminal works. We are introduced to at least one other former caretaker: Sir James Barrie, the man who brought Peter Pan into our lives. The book's climax is huge and fabulous. I give this book a high recommendation.
