worth a pound or two......
Hunters' prose is very much of its' time. It is gentle (pardon the pun) and strolling in its form and I think you have to be a fan of this type of novel (as I am) to really enjoy it. It bears little resemblance to the TV spin off other than perhaps the rural settings and Gentlys' relaxed atitude to all things.
They are not long reads and not particularly convoluted, cant remember seeing a rude word or thought in any of the Gently novels that I have read but I thorougly enjoy them for their simplicity, the lead character, the settings and the period feeling from a time when England was a nicer place to be.
Buy one and try one - I think you will enjoy.........

Good Stuff
I have bought most of Knopflers' releases in recent times and I enjoy them generally speaking. Over time since Dire Straits demise Knopfler has perhaps indulged himslef a little in terms of the type of music he is writing and releasing. If you trace the music backwards to D.S. I guess you can see "development" and a natural growth into his current style. I am not a music expert but would descibe recent releases as "folk/jazz/blues & rock (ish). Beautifully written and crafted and a pleasure to listen to with out doubt if you a fan of this genre and artist. But I am looking forward to the next release in all honesty to see if there will be a move forward again as, as good as they are the last couple of albums are very similar.

Mrs Brown (Dench/Connolly)
A brilliantly crafted film with Dench giving her usual Top Notch performance as the very convincing Queen Vic. and Connelly in the role he was born for - John Brown (Victoria's servant). Two quite superb leads and I think a brilliant supporting cast lead by Palmer. For me this is genuinely one of the Top 10 films of the last 20 years. Watch it!
