Re "Marvel 1602: Spider-Man"
The story is one of several graphic novels which reimagines Marvel characters in medieval terms, with many of them given powers by a mysterious "Source" and others born as mutants. All are called "Witchbreed" and viewed with deep suspicion by ordinary people. Even Iron Man makes an appearance, as an agent of King James II in a bulky suit of mechanized armor powered by so-called "lightning bottles" (no transistors here). They are caught up in intrigue, both in the Roanoke colony where most of the story occurs and in England, from which he sends his agent David Banner (who, yes, is transformed into a gray version of you-know-who).

Fatherland
The novel was one of many presenting an alternative world in which the Nazis won WWII, at least in Europe; it's set in a 1964 in which a Cold War between the U.S. and the Third Reich is underway and President Joseph Kennedy is visiting Germany on a diplomatic mission. The Holocaust was ever exposed, but a series of murders leads police detective Xavier March to evidence that it occurred--evidence which, if revealed, will blow up the effort to establish a détente between the superpowers.
The movie follows the book faithfully. Unlike the novel, it's a rarity: for whatever reason, alternative-history films are few and far between (at least in the U.S.; I don't know about other countries). It's very well-made. The video I received was in excellent condition, very sharp and clear, making viewing enjoyable quite apart from the content.

A world turned upside down
The story line is based on Marvel Comics' X-Men line of comics but imagine a world transformed so that ordinary humans are a dwindling, bullied minority in a world dominated by mutants. in this volume we see what happens to a group of non-mutant super-villains who resent the racial discrimination to which they too are subjected despite being endowed with greater abilities than most mutants. After one of them conceives a scheme to exploit the situation to make them all rich, they find themselves increasingly sympathetic toward non-powered humans. At the story's end, the reader sees one of them devoting herself to telling the story of this alliance (many of whose members have by then been killed as "terrorists"), while others are shown developing advanced weaponry to allow non-mutants to fight back physically.
