tried to be there, now I know how they did that
1 of 1 found this helpful This novel helped give a perspective to my experience of rowing at the University of Oregon. In 1969-70 the freshman coach was first year grad student David Thompson, who graduated the previous year from U of W and the Husky crew. The book gave me a deeper insight into the genealogy of our rowing style, the historical perspective of our beautiful cedar Pocock racing shells, and our coaches relation other rowing programs, especially California's.
The book is absolutely a must read for any American oarsperson and their friends or family. They can not help but benefit learning the history it contains. I doubt it will disappoint anyone else.. Steve Calvert
