    StreetPilot III GPS for Motorcycle
Fully functional and (usually) waterproof & vibration-proof GPS. Great GARMIN routing software for planning routes and uploading to GPS, also can upload way-points for using whilst out on a ride to let the GPS find routes to (say) a known cafe from wherever you are. Can be powered from the Bike battery and will use an external aerial for better reception. Has interchangeable memory cards, the 128Mb ones will hold about 80% of whole UK. I carried maps for a 4000 round trip to Norway (Arctic circle) and back in a single 128Mk card, no problems. Will work out a 'detour' around (say) roadworks or traffic jam, calculates quickest or shortest route options. Good route tracking - ride around wherever you like, keep the GPS switched on and it'll record where you've been for later download to PC and making into a route to share with friends. It also keeps a record of average speeds and time spent travelling as well as max speed. Can be used as a live display (like a digital dash board) to see direction, local time and speed. Touratech make a great (lockable) mount to fix it to the handlebars or wherever, screen-lighting is adjustable, as is the spoken direction voice volume. I have mine wired in to both bike battery & intercom, works a treat. Down-side is it's a little 'clunky' a bit slow in re-routing if you stray off route, and can give odd answers if the memory is getting full (delete some way-points and/or old routes and it'll be fine). It can also be a little slow re-drawing the screen in built up areas (like central London) but voice commands will keep you on-route while the screen re-draws (usually). It doesn't have any flash extra like Bluetooth or MP3 player, but the connection to an intercom works great, and there's an external speaker option if you want it. Get the youngest one you can (they're not made any more) and for around £80 you should get a bargain GPS workhorse. If it packs in GARMIN can repair, but will charge around £130 - just get another one off e-Bay :-) The route and way-point files can be exchanged with other GARMIN units (even the latest ZUMO, I think) so the investment in the software is transferable, the software can also link to Google Earth to show routes and/or track on real maps. Enjoy.

You get what you pay for
This is a good low cost product which arrived within days of ordering and was securly packed. Quaity and robustness is a match to the cost, Some assembly isues were noted, but easily remedied if you have any degree of practical knowledge. Brightness and beam density is a little disappointing, but the convenience of no mains wiring is significant. Don't expect bright spotlights, but enough light to see the key into the front door and to illuminate visitors as they approach the front step. Simple to fit, works out of the box, but a little disappointing in build quality and performance.
