ECONOMICAL WIRELESS RADAR
10 of 10 found this helpful I was a bit skeptical about a wireless radar device in the $100 price range, but trusted the quality of the Whistler brand based on my prior satisfactory experience. I owned other Whistler detectors for years and used them for thousands of miles with excellent results; i.e., no speeding tickets although I have a bit of a led foot when conditions are favorable. This Whistler wireless radar didn't let me down either.
I purchased it for a New York to Florida road trip October 2008 and was very impress with its options, response and ability for the display light to be turned off while still being fully armed at night. This is a great feature when traveling at night through States that are not radar friendly. I was able to clearly hear the warning alarm without the light flashing to alert the troupers I was using a radar device.
The only minor draw back was the DE-1788 is a bit heavy and needs to be securely attached to the bracket on the windshield. However, if your dash is relatively flat, I highly suggest getting one of those sticky dash pads for the dash board and let the whistler rest on the dash. Outside of this, the Whistler DE-1788 multi function wireless radar detector is well worth it's cost and does not dissapoint. It even comes with 4 rechargeable AA batteries and a wall charger so you can take it inside and charge it up at night. I though this was smart and cool. Give it a try if you are in the market for a quality radar detector for under $100.00 on Ebay.
