Miracast as it should be done!
2 of 2 found this helpful First off, Microsoft has recently lent me a Wireless Display Adapter for review. I appreciate being able to use this loan unit but that has not influenced my opinion of the device or of Microsoft – this is my personal view and Microsoft have no influence directly or indirectly on my opinions.
The wireless adapter is basically a HDMI plug and a USB plug attached by a cable. The cable is about 12” long, but also supplied in the box is an extension cable. This would be handy, but it’s only about 4” long, so it really isn’t too much use! Also there is a dummy ‘connector’ to allow you to join the cable together if you are not using it.
The power is supplied by the USB plug so your TV really needs to have a USB socket. If it doesn’t you could power it from a phone charger, but unless your socket is *very* close to the TV you’ll need to buy a USB extension cable.
Connecting is just a case of plugging it all in then selecting the HDMI port on your TV remote and then connecting from your phone or tablet. I used a Windows phone and Surface Pro to connect with no issues.
By default there is no security applied so you may want change the settings unless you want next door to cast to your telly!
To access the settings, you will need to download an app from the Microsoft Store. This will allow you to rename the adapter, change the language or security settings. You can set the adapter to accept either a password or PIN to allow a connection. Any firmware updates can be applied using the app.
I’ve not had much luck with Miracast in the past, but this adapter has changed that! I have a Samsung TV with built-in Wi-Fi and connecting usually ends with dropped connections. Also when using Continuum from my 950XL phone the experience was very ‘laggy’ and only just usable. But using the display adapter resulted in a silky smooth experience with no stutter. Playing videos from the Surface Pro was also flawless.
Although it may seem a bit on the pricey side, the performance really has changed my view of Miracast.
This adapter has to be returned as it’s only a loan, but I’ll be purchasing one myself soon.

How do they do it for the price!
Although it's not a ratchet crimp, it's a decent little tool. If you were doing loads of crisps then maybe go for something better but for general home/light work it's perfect.
With a tester and punchdown tool it's all you need to connect a few Ethernet cables.
How they can do all this delivered for six quid amazes me!

No goog for tyre compressors
1 of 1 found this helpful Bought this for a tyre compressor but it came with a 3A fuse fitted which wasn't enough. Changed it for a 10A one, but after pumping the tyre the plug was so hot it started to melt!
Cigarette fittings are fused to 15A on the car, so the plug should be able to handle this really 😕
