Arguably the best all round tank of WWII
Good easy to assemble with good fitment and few adjustments required. Would have been nice if they threw in tank commander and driver figures like they do with most of their other tank model kits

Good model of rare subject, but it has room for improvement.
0 of 2 found this helpful Overall this is a pretty good kit of an unusual and rare subject. The only surviving Maus (only 2 chassis were built) is in a museum in Russia and the kit includes an 8 page glossy pamphlet with pictures of the real thing--this is a nice touch. The instructions are good as our the color --hypothetical--paint schemes. Fit and finish of the parts is good. Some criticisms on a model tank like this, trumpeter should adopt the individual track shoe methodology use on the recent 1/35 scale academy Tiger 1 Kits -- the track shows while realistic involved more tiny parts than may have been necessary. Same is true of the tank's suspension system and road wheels--too many small parts. In a high quality, high dollar kit like this, why not include painting masks for key parts like road wheels, or single piece metal gun barrels. Likewise why not provide decals for a few Wehrmacht or Waffen SS Divisions. Finally, it would have been nice to include a tank crew of 1/35 scale figures. Tamiya often provides a tank commander, why not toss in a few figures. Finally, the Commander and Loader Hatches on the Turret Top are way to small for a 1/35 scale figure to fit in. I suppose this may be why they did not include figures...
