Awesome piece of equipment with versatility to spare.
I'm by no means a great keyboard player. I play guitar mostly, but fill keyboard duties in a couple of bands too. I was playing a Korg sp-500 because I got a good deal on it, and had heard a lot of good things about the company. Having been a musician for a number of years, I, like many of you out there, am predisposed to fits of gear envy. I wanted to upgrade to a workstation that would serve me well for a while without completely breaking the bank. Almost went for the Kronos, but decided to save a couple grand and get the M3. Amazing machine. Action feels great, sounds are incredible. Way more options and sounds than I'll ever use, but it's nice to know I have them if I ever need them. I'm about as technically deficient as anyone could hope to be, so I was a bit overwhelmed at first. However, once I learned the basic functions, I was able to write my own programs and combis in no time. While the deep editing functions still escape me, the basic editing allows me to get pretty darn close to the sounds I am looking for. I've still not even tried using the sampling function because I'm having too much fun with all of the other functions. My only complaint is that my guitar playing has greatly suffered because I spend most of my time in front of this beast.
