Imperfect, Beautiful and Mostly Live
After watching the 'documentary' Young @ Heart I was compelled to get the CD. The renderings of songs are sometimes imperfect with warbles and weird notes, but they are ALWAYS real...the seniors performing have the life experience to put actual TRUE emotion behind the themes of the songs(you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need).Catch the movie first, to get a feel of where the music is coming from. Not saccharine, the singers deal personally with illness, infirmity, death and LIVING. It is poignant and inspiring and makes one's own aging less of an inevitable decline and more like another phase of maturation.
