Cheap And Good Solution To An Expensive Problem
My 2007 VW Polo recently purchased at auction had a full service history from the VW network but at some stage they managed to strip the sump plug and bodged it back with sealant.
This kit allowed me to re-cut the thread (aluminium sump) easily and fit the next size up sump plug which stopped the leak.
Some tips: 1) Get engine hot and allow the oil to drain overnight so the drips eventually stop 2) When using the cutting tap coat it in grease so it picks up the swarf - you don't want it to get into the sump! 3) Take great care to ensure the tap is perpendicular to the mating surface of the sump flange so the new sump plug sits square. If it's not leaks may continue.
Great product at a fraction of the cost of a new VW aluminium sump which I was quoted nearly $1000 to replace!

Helps Prevent Vehicle Theft
Older Nissan's are easy to steal. Some low life had inserted a screwdriver into both the drivers side and passenger side door locks in a Westfield car park trying to gain entry.
Fortunately they must have been disturbed so I didn't lose the vehicle or anything from the interior. I have been advised that a screwdriver blade inserted into the lock and forced anticlockwise allows the original door lock to turn and the door to open.
These locks prevent that as they use a circular type of key which means they will resist the lock turning and activating the door opening mechanism.
The lock quality is reasonably good but I was disappointed in the quality of the 'master' key which had a light fitted which didn't work. Changing the battery was very difficult due to the 'mickey mouse' construction of the internals.
This only applies to the light mechanism, the key itself was reasonably solid. Made in Thailand and a reasonably priced solution to make my Nissan more secure.

Solid Reliable Performer
A simple, robust and well made top loader which is very easy to use and maintain.
These machines have been produced for years by F&P NZ and have gradually been improved over time - evolution rather than revolution.
There is very little to go wrong, parts are readily available and they often last 18-20 years if looked after.
Ours had a drainage pump failure after nearly 15 years of daily use which was relatively cheap and easy to fix.
Apart from this it has been bulletproof.
If there is a downside they are not as economical as a front loader with regard to water use.
Highly recommended if you want a basic robust no frills washer that does "exactly what it says on the tin".
