You get what you pay for
The tool is not a high quality wood working tool. The blade is low quality steel and ground very crudely. I doubt that it will be able to obtain and hold a sharp edge. I can see this tool being useful in very crude work such at bark removal, but not at all good enough to carve a chair seat. I wasn't expecting a high quality tool because of the price. Will probably use it only for bark removal or use on very dirty wood so I don't have to foul up a better tool.
