Challenging plots and very convincing charecters
All of the series I've watched so far are excellent, I am a great fan of the Inspector Morse series and wanted to see how Robbie Lewis gets on in his new rôle as Inspector. Pity he didn't inherit Morse's 2.4 Jaguar, as Morse left part of his estate to him.
Lewis gets a sometimes bumpy ride with his Chief Superintendant. The play off between him and Hathaway is very good, two very different persona.
The plots are complex and often I need to watch again to fully follow them.
Lewis has acquired something of the tragic nature of Morse following death of his wife and Whately puts in a chilling performance when Lewis confronts person responsible.
Of course being set in Oxford is a huge plus especially as I was a student there and remained in Oxford for many years after.
