A bargain priced bow that shoots like a high end model.
I've been making my own bows for many years. Mostly out of Red Oak because it is easy to get. Occasionally I would purchase more suitable wood through ebay and build a really nice bow that would last awhile. I really wanted a well made take down recurve, but could never afford a new one. Until I found the Samick Sage on ebay. I read all the reviews and decided to buy one. The price was not much more than what I would spend to build my own. The bow is fantastic. Well made, quality craftsmanship. I'm shooting a 40 pound bow with a Fastflight string. It's a little noisy with this string, but for target shooting it's not a problem. I shoot mostly instictive aim, and this bow is right on. Smooth draw, surprising arrow speed, and extremely accurate. Tight groups at 20 to 25 yards. At 30 to 40 yards my accuracy suffers a little, my fault. But the bow shoots that distance without any problem. I bought a cheap recurve sight so I could shoot olympic style, and so far I've had decent results all the way out to 50 yards. And that's with arrows I bought at WalMart. I shoot every day, and thinking about buying a set of 45 pound limbs. I doubt there is a better bow for the money. One of the best purchases I ever made. The only negative I can think of is the string that came with the bow was way too long, and required many many twists to get the correct brace height. This bow shoots best with a brace of 8 to 9 inches. And I put some rubber strips between the limbs and the riser. Much quieter, and less vibration. If you're thinking about trying a recurve bow, buy the Samick Sage. At $129 total price, you won't be disappointed.
