It's a cheap, basic network switch.

Works a treat
Almost foolproof in it's simplicity and works perfectly. No need to worry about muting channels to prevent loud pops damaging ears and speakers.
You simply unplug.
No buttons to hold down. No pops.
A small pin on the plug is engaged when plugged into the 1/4" socket of your guitar. Potentially, it may not work with all sockets but it does for all i have tried so far.
The pin silently controls the circuit so there is no noise when eitherunplugging or plugging in.
Another bonus is no noise from handling the unplugged cable.

Almost foolproof?
The "silent" jack is only on one end of the cable. Both jacks appear identical without close inspection.
Either both jacks should be silent or easy to distinguish which is which. I will to mark the silent jack in some way to avoid this mistake in bad lighting.
