Cyrano disappoints
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this only to watch the segment with Moira Shearer as Roxanne in the Cyrano ballet. I should have listened to Moira herself who thought it was godawful. When I managed to stay awake through the whole 'Cyrano' segment I was rewarded with the most bizarre choreography, absolutely terrible score, and really absurd costuming that made the fantastic Moira Shearer look 20 years older than she was. What was that music anyway? It was just godawful.
And Roland Petit, what a poseur. Terrible. Utterly utterly terrible. This is the only Moira Shearer film that I do not want to see ever again.
That said, I didn't watch the rest of the movie so I can't honestly rate the whole thing, but I will give the Cyrano part two huge thumbs way way DOWN.

Luv it.
This Penguin edition is much better done than the Barnes and Noble edition I got at the library, which was riddled with typos and errors (Icelandic for "whale" is "whale"....no it's not), lines of type misplaced, "ships" instead of "chips"..
Now I can find out what I missed. It is one of the great books. All other novelists can pack it in now. You will never equal Melville's achievement!
