    SABRENT CB-FTDI 6 ft. USB 2.0 to Serial (9-Pin) DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable

    Nice true RS232 device
I wrote a previous review which was in error due to a bad measurement on my part. Please disregard that one, I don't know how to delete it. This adapter is based on the ftdi chip which is reliable and has good drivers. The logic levels meet the RS232 standard. SOme cheaper adapters do not and may or may not work with some devices. This one is solid.

Works fine after cleaning hdmi connector
When I received it this adapter didn't work at all. It turns out the problem was just very dirty/oxidized contacts on the hdmi connector. Works fine now after a thorough cleaning.
    Zoom F8n 8-channel / 10-track Field Audio Recorder / Mixer , New!

    Great, solid little recording unit
I've been doing live recording for years, I started with a tower computer, CRT monitor, bulky interface rack and such. I progressed through a laptop and a smaller interface and have made hundreds of hours of recordings this way. It always terrified me during the recording as I waited for a computer crash, it didn't happen often, I never lost much, but it always felt like trouble waiting to happen. I just get a new Zoom F8n recorder and spent the last week recording about 12 hours of audio on 4 different gigs with it. I'm very pleased. It sounds great, I can hold it in my hand, and it just feels rock-solid. I hope it will just keep chugging along the way it is now, I don't have enough experience to comment on long-term reliability, but whoever designed it clearly knew about field recording. Its a complex box so expect a learning curve before you can exploit all its features. Digital recording has sure come a long way in 20 years! --Bill
