TR2000LD Shimano Charter Special Lever Drag Mono Conventional Reel 17.1 oz 4.2:1
03 February 2016
Lightweight with great smooth drag features
I like the lever drag feature. You have the ability to set your drag based upon the line test strength. An example; I use 30 pound test line, while the lever is in free spool mode you adjust the dial clockwise for more power or counter-clockwise for less power. You engage the drag lever to the strike zone setting and at this point test the drag with a "Pull scale" until you get it set to 30% of the line strength, In this case, it is set to 10 pounds. You still have the option of setting the drag lever position to what you feel is an appropriate drag setting for the fish that you're targeting. Remember you can quickly make adjustments to the drag lever while fighting a hooked fish. Shimano says that the drag its-self can be pulled out equal to 100 miles prior to needing any maintenance. Consider this, you catch a decent fish and it runs out 70 yards of line, that's 210 feet, at this rate you catch 25 fish for every mile of drag, you'll catch 2500 decent sized fish before you'll need to do anything to your drag system. That's a lot of fish that this reel is capable of bringing in. I like everything about this reel and the smooth even drag of the TR2000LD Shimano Charter Special Lever Drag Mono Conventional Reel with a line retrieve ratio 4.2:1 Overall, I give this reel an A+ rating.
