BLI Keeps Getting Worse
1 of 2 found this helpful I have been buying Broadway Limited engines for over 2 years now, and almost every single one I've had some kind of issue with, usually the smoke would be the problem. I stopped buying from them after a while and got out of trains. Recently I decided to start collecting again, since they added a new type, the L1s! I was going to buy their rolling thunder set, but missed out, so I thought I'd go a head and just get the new L1s, and so I did!
The day I got it, and opened it up, I noticed a black piece inside the box, I didn't think nothing of it, and removed the instructions to find out they not only changed and updated their paragon system, but they also changed the packaging, and I can say, it didn't help matters. Once I got the item out, I noticed the handrailing around the smokebox was broken. I always thought their handrails were metal, boy was I wrong. Now, with the new paragon 3, their prices have gone up $100.00 at least, and I paid 350 for this. Sorry, in my opinion NOT WORTH IT! They claim.. "Near-Brass Caliber Detail at a Plastic Price" I say BS! It's mostly all PLASTIC! While I was waiting for this one to come, I brought out two of my older BLI loco's one being the H10.. after about 10 hours of playing, the marker lights stopped working, the other engine I was running decided to just stop working, so I tried doing a hard reset, which means taking the shell off of the long tender. They don't tell you how to do this, and their video online is OUT DATE! needless to say, I had a step break off, yup.. cheaply glued on and plastic!
I am DONE paying over $400 for a cheap engine. Oh, and on a note, I sent them two emails about the two loco's that were giving me trouble, over a week ago. I have heard NOTHING from them. I went to their youtube page and complained, and of course they say that they are back logged to call them. Sorry, but I have a job and work days.. I can't! So with that said.. BYE BYE Broadway Limited! I'll have to go to Bachmann for my k4's and hope another company will pick up the other engines!
UPDATE: Got my replacement 2-8-2 and it's broken as well, this time one of the detailed pieces on the top was broken off, or wasn't glued into place.
I am done with the CHEAP BLI stuff.

Inexpensive way to add a hospital train
All of these cars are worth the price. Each one is done nicely, with crisp lettering and graphics. You can not beat these for the price. Yes, they are a little light weight, but that can be fixed very easily. I'm glad I bought these, and hope they come out with more later! Worth every penny!
