Autocool box
1 of 1 found this helpful We bought this Waeco electric cool box as it would fit below the boot cover in a Volvo XC60.
We read the reviews and decided that the Waeco was a reliable coolbox that would keep food and drinks cool on longer journeys and picnics etc. We wanted at least 20 litre capacity.
Our experience is that the Waeco needs a number of cooler blocks (prefrozen) to establish the initial lower temperature and then the electric cooling fan works reasonably well. Without the cooler blocks the fan runs for quite some time before any noticeable drop in temperature. Reviews said that the Waeco was noisy but we did not notice any additional noise over the radio / road noise. When used for a picnic, the Waeco is of course heavier that a passive coolbox; fully packed the Waeco can be quite heavy (mostly drinks), so you need to park close to your picnic area. We did not notice any discernible drain on the battery even when parked.
