To 4.5mm*3.0mm~Converter For HP Dell Laptop Adapter Connector Power Charger Plug

Center pin is not connected.

The adapter does convert the a 7.4mmx5.0mm to a 4.5mmx3.0mm laptop-type DC connector, and it does pass through the DC voltage correctly. It also looks well built. But: the center pin of the connectors is not connected! The center pin connection is important as it is the data connection between charger and laptop, which tells the laptop that the "right" charger is connected. The product is labelled as being compatible for Dell, but because of the missing center pin connection, the power supply is not recognized by the Dell Laptop. The laptop runs at lowest CPU frequency (very slow) and the battery doesn't charge. Essentially, it is an adapter between a 3-pin connector and another 3-pin connector, but only 2 pins are actually connected. To exclude that it is a charger problem, I measured the resistance of the center pin on the two ends with a multimeter - it is actually disconnected. I hope the manufacturer addresses that issue in future; without the center pin connection, it is not really useful for me.
