Outstanding classic Christmas movie!
1 of 1 found this helpful One of my favorite all-time Christmas movies -- full of comedy, romance, Christmas cheer, and traditional values. SZ Sakall as Uncle Felix is my favorite character. "Everything is just hunky-dunky!" He does all he can to help Barbara Stanwyck out of the jam she has herself in. You'll love the pancake flipping and the rotating babies. An adorable movie.

Great movie!
For a sequel written so long after the original, this one is a winner. The storyline is especially good. I like how they took some open-ended elements from the original and incorporated them into the sequel; like when Scarlett shot the union soldier at Tara, and her appreciation for what her father told her about her Irish heritage. Scarlett has learned her lessons (well, mostly) and finally moved into adulthood. She can still get in a jam, though. The modern characters are good substitutes, but I still found myself picturing Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in my mind. Lots of new characters are introduced, like Rhett's mother, Sally Brewster and Ann Hampton. The sets and scenery are beautiful. I only wish the movie had followed more of the Fenian Rebellion like the book did. It is mentioned in the movie, as is Colum's involvement in it, but there is never any resolution. To that end, the movie ending did not match the book ending. The movie had a bit of an abrupt and sudden ending, like "okay, the trial's over -- let's go home and be a family now." But I still enjoyed the movie very much. You'll like it too if you love the original.
