Good game until the ridiculous end level - rushed out to meet a deadline
The STALKER series are great games, the atmosphere is great, gameplay is good and the graphics are reasonable. Stalker - Clear Sky is the prequel to STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl.
STALKER Clear Sky is good, right up until just before the end. The developers were in a rush to release the game, and the end comes as an absolute anti-climax. The final level is very short and just stupid. See below for more details. If you liked STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl it is probably still worth playing, just be prepared for a very weak ending. Otherwise I would avoid. SPOILER BELOW
The final level has you attepting to shoot Strelok with a gauss gun at the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant. I got around to where he was, and he doesn't move at the end. he just stands there and lets you shoot him. I shot him in the face with a whole clip from an assault rifle first, obviously you can't kill him because he is a required character (you) in STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl which takes place after this game. I then performed what is required and shot him (at point blank range) in the face with the gauss gun sniper rifle to remove his protections, he doesn't move and just allows you to do this. VERY WEAK FROM THE DEVELOPERS. This is the rushed ending of the game so it could be released to meet a release deadline.
There is also a plot point from STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl where your character in STALKER - Clear Sky is supposed to shoot a character from the first game. This never happens form some unknown reason.
