great alternative to buying the entire cyclone assembly
1 of 1 found this helpful My original handle broke, so I was so happy to find this part instead of having to buy the entire cyclone assembly. The part fit my 13-year old Animal perfectly. It is tricky getting the rod into the bottom correctly so that you can open the flap to empty the canister, but the trick is to open the flap and keep it open while you install the part. This way you can put your hand in from the bottom to guide the rod into the hole. It is difficult to open the flap after you start taking it apart, so make sure to it beforehand. Also, seeing as my vacuum is vintage at this point, it was a dirty job, so you might want to do it outside, and if you're feeling up to it, hose off and clean the parts once you have it disassembled, which also means you might want to choose a nice sunny day so they'll dry quicker before you reassemble them.
