Good, unique, but flawed
It serves as an entryway to playing Baroque music in the pitch it was meant to be played with--sounds more attractive. Plastic alto recorders are quite diverse, but none before have tried to enter the world of A415 and for this Zen-On deserves Kudos. Could it sound better? Yes, but probably not in plastic. No one is making a $150 wooden one, so this is a way for those of us amateur recorder players to enlarge the joy of our music making--and to consider saving up to make the considerable jump to a wooden one. The closest recorder to this one in tone is the Aulos Haka, which has a lower tonality, although it is at A440. If you can afford one, give it a try--oh, and order some kind of thumb rest--this is a serious deficiency, as it is much easier to play with one.
