Beldray® Smart Radiator Electric Heater Ceramic WIFI controlled 1000W (EH3108W)
03 February 2022
Smart Ceramic Core Rad with Versatile WiFi Control
These rads are available under various brand names (they're actually all made in China) but the Beldray ones are the only ones that I know of that come with wheels as well as wall mounting brackets. I bought 2 of them, one is used on wheels and the other is wall mounted. They can be programmed in timed eco or normal modes and also have a sensor mode which detects people entering the room so that the rads are not ON (and wasting energy) when no-one is present. They also have a 7 deg C frost mode to prevent frozen pipes in winter, even if the room is unoccupied. They can be programmed via WiFi and the internet using the SmartLife app which allows you to control them from anywhere inside or outside the home. They look modern and heat well. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Great and Versatile Heater - But Slightly Spoilt By Software Bugs
This is Version 2 of this Beldray product (indicated by 'V2' in the model number). Having had it 1 month at the time of writing this review (20-Nov-2023) I can say that, generally, it works really well and is elegant and stylish, especially when wall mounted. It heats up quickly and retains heat in the ceramic core that carries on warming the room even after the power to the fully enclosed element switches off. It complies with the EU LOT20 regulations and has many features which make it very versatile in operation, particularly when controlled via the Tuya/Smartlife App. I have the 1kW version, but the same comments would also apply to the 1.5kW and 2kW models. The touch control panel has been updated from the original version (which I also have) and has had some tweaks to improve the layout. The case has had the original and rather odd looking 'melted plastic' curve design on the control module section of the case removed and this now looks much better. The metal body fins have been slightly redesigned compared with the original version, presumably to make them more efficient, and this means that these version 2 heaters are slightly shorter than their equivalent original versions. However, this change in length also means that, although the wall mounting brackets are the same, their spacing is different, so slightly annoyingly, you couldn't use this version to directly replace an original version unless you move the mounting brackets first. I bought this unit because it can be remotely controlled via the Tuya/Smartlife App and I almost exclusively use it this way. Every Tuya/Smartlife controllable device has a software driver for the Tuya/Smartlife App which contains code to read and write data to the device to sense and control its functions from the App. Although the available heater functions are almost identical to the original version, for some reason the manufacturers have chosen to completely rewrite the driver rather than simply updating it. Unfortunately, this has introduced several bugs. For example; the temperature adjustment slider in the App is no longer greyed out in Program Mode or Sensor Mode (which for some incomprehensible reason is now referred to as 'Induce' Mode in the App) even though you cannot (and never could) adjust the temperature in these modes. The device status in the App doesn't reflect a programmed mode change until 1 hour after the heater has actually changed mode. For example; if the programmed schedule has the heater changing from Comfort Mode to Eco Mode at 22:00, the heater itself changes mode at the correct time but the device status shown in the App doesn't change until 23:00. Sensor / Induce mode steps the temperature down automatically if no movement is detected by 1 degree each delay period set in the App (30, 45 or 60 min). In the original model, if movement is then detected the heater steps back up to the set Comfort temperature by 1 degree every 15 min. So within 45min the heater is back at the Comfort temperature. In the new Version 2 driver, the steps increment after the same time delay set for the decrease steps. This can mean that if the no-movement time delay is set to 60min, the heater can take 3hrs to get back to the Comfort temperature. This is completely ridiculous. Luckily, both the heater itself and the App driver software can be updated remotely, so I'm sure that these bugs will be fixed before long, but for now the heater loses 1 star because of these bugs.
