Classic and powerful
There are two great classics not just of Philippine cinema but of world cinema, restored by the World Cinema Project under the behest of Martin Scorsese who, in his Cannes filmfest intro to the world premiere of the restored version of Manila in the Claws of Light, referred to Lino Brocka as “a giant, a towering filmmaker" whose films were “brave, extraordinary, powerful experiences.”

1 of 1 found this helpful This is an under-rated musical with a luminous Vanessa Redgrave gamboling with future husband Franco Nero and a kingly Richard Harris to the music of Lerner and Loewe. Though sometimes too darkly lit towards the end, it's well-worth getting on the Blu-ray version.
