A price of my Iago collection
Being crystal, this is a bit pricey of a collectible, so it's something to splurge on or get only when you have enough money to spend on just for fun things. I usually get cheaper collectibles, but I collect just about everything Iago. He is my very most favorite Disney character. So I was eyeing this item for months & finally decided to make the leap & buy it. It is a great item to show to the world that you love this little wisecracking parrot. When the light catches it, the red crystal looks quite attractive, so collectors of Swarovski's Disney figures might like it, too, even if Iago is only a minor favorite.

Too Preachy
Marvel's 1995 Aladdin comic book series is generally good, although not perfect. This issue didn't feature my favorite character, Iago. I started collecting the series so I'd find out more about Iago's adventures specifically. Plus it had a moral I didn't agree with, one against gambling. My family is okay with gambling in moderation--we've played the Lotto & gone on Vegas vacations. But I would agree it is ill-advised to gamble more than you could repay if you lost. This comic doesn't make that distinction, but just condemns gambling in general. It can be so annoying reading morals you don't agree with, especially if they're heavy-handed.
Plus there's an aside where Aladdin praises Jasmine for good thinking, & then adds in a thought balloon, "For a girl!". He was chauvinistic like this in a previous issue (#8) & I thought the writer was writing him OOC just to try to tell a certain story. I can see Jasmine being a feminist who might lash out at men, but I don't see Aladdin as being a chauvinist in return. I was unable to leave a review on that issue, so I'm addressing it here.

I bought this just because it was there
I got this product just for Iago. I will likely be giving the Jafar figure away. I've seen that in the original packaging on other listings that Iago originally (& rather randomly) came with Ed the Hyena from "The Lion King" rather than Jafar. The figure stands on a suction cup & I guess you're supposed to be able to stick the Chibi Snapz figure wherever you want, but the suction cup on the Iago figure doesn't seem to work at all. I collect almost every bit of Iago merchandise I can find as he is my top fave Disney character, but I don't like this figure as much as some of my others because Iago looks particularly villainous. Iago is a character that experienced redemption in "The Return of Jafar" & the Aladdin TV series, so I'd rather he be portrayed looking friendly instead of like he's plotting evil. A lot of my Iago collectibles do indeed feature him looking like he'd be your friend. If you're a Disney fan who prefers Iago when he was a villain, you may like this product better than me.
