Love and Logic Books are TERRIFIC!
This is my favorite parenting system! It gives parents clear direction and the language to use to help children take responsibility for their own actions. It helps parents understand the correlation of allowing a child to make a mistake and learn faster from it than a parent pointing the finger and chewing them out. It teaches us the language to point our children in a direction without them feeling "directed". Also, It gives the language needed for the parent to accomplish the goal WITHOUT the child being upset at the parent for the consequences, instead the child takes on the responsibility for his/her own actions. This book is a sequel to "Parenting with Love and Logic" which is directed toward the younger children. Teens are different in the way they think, so this book addresses that. I try to have extras in my house to loan to the parents I speak with and I am always out of books.
