Decent Quality for the Cost
This little mic works wonderfully, especially considering how little it costs. Sure, it might not give you the greatest sound quality in the world, but it definitely does what I need. It picks up sounds I wouldn't have expected, like a running refrigerator or a cell phone in the next room. So you just have to make sure things like that aren't making noise when you're recording. If this one breaks (but I can't see that it should), I wouldn't hesitate getting another one, again, considering the extremely low price.

GeoTrax Still Chugging Along
Fisher-Price got it right back in 2003 when they started to create the GeoTrax line of toys. Even though they discontinued them around 2011, those they made over a decade ago are still chugging along just fine (for the most part) today. This Special Edition Clover Express from 2006 is my favorite set. It's so shiny, and green is my favorite color. It's one of many smaller GeoTrax sets that mainly consists of an engine, a couple of cars, and a remote controller. Your youngster (and truth be told, many older kids and adults too) will love playing with these toys for many years. You can connect all the sets together because the track from one works with all the others. Start with one set and get as many more as you like after that. You can probably stop when you have no more floor space. Maybe.
