Brilliant inside and out, a treasure
The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Natural History Museum are home to collections from the works of Georg Dionysius Ehret, 1708 to 1770. This book published in 1987, 217years after the life of the artist. Copyright is held by the publisher and the Trustees of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The brilliance of this artist was his ability to create the plants on the canvas detail for both botanical study and artistic natural realism. In today’s world where certificates mean so much, maybe we should be looking to artists from history for guidance and example, especially when we meet artists who were self-taught. As a book, it is crisp, clean, bright and beautiful. The stitching is tight and the cover has a silken feel.. It is true example of bookbinding of the 20th century and extensive details are on the copyright page in the book. Apart from admiring the paintings on pages, I use this book for research when illustrating books and their covers. It is a true inspiration. Old bound books, turning into digital bites by the record keepers, are rapidly disappearing from bookshelves in shops, homes and worse of all, schools. The beauty of the printed page and painted canvas is why I bought and will keep this book.

This book shows where and how to use words for speaking and writing French
When learning the French language an illustration of the word is always helpful, but, an illustration in a picture of where and how the word is used is great. Whether an adult or child, this book, French Picture Word Book, gives a clear understanding of how to use the language and helpful in forming sentences whether written or spoken. This book is a nice colouring book as well, so one can colour the pictures while soaking in the education. When compared with other French language books this heads the list because of the visual layout of the words used in speech. The only negative is the word index at the back of the book lists the words in French/English in alphabetical order. It would be more helpful if the English/French words were also in alphabetical order AS WELL.
