Solid remote, time tested. Much preferred over the clunky new Hopper3 remote.
As is all too common in today's quickly upgraded tech world, new is not really better, just different. The Hopper3 remote is not an legitimate advance in design nor usability. The Dish 40.0 remote is much more ergonomic and has more direct access buttons... and does not make annoying clicks when the buttons are pressed. Thankfully Dish was wise enough to make the new Hopper3 fully compatible with the 40.0 remote. Both remotes are effective but the older version remotes have a better weight, tactile feel and non-sight ease of use than the new Hopper3 remote. The new remote was easy to learn but lacks direct control in areas that long-time Dish users have become accustomed to. Hopefully Dish will continue to support the 40.0 remotes as future upgrades roll in or maybe even offer a similar upgraded remote in the future.
