The Game, well played Mr Fincher.
David Finchers unique follow up to the mesmerising SeZen is as relevant and captivating as it was (unbelievably) over twenty years ago. The labyrinth plotting and taught pace make this a timeless thriller that has yet to be matched by anything that Hollywood has produced in the subsequent years. This Criterion release finally allows the amazingly detailed and dark cinematography to show you every secret lurking in the beautifully lit shadows, inky blacks and fine detail are consistent throughout and the transfer remains a polished but faithful representation of the intended vision from the director, this criterion edition is literally like watching the film again for the first time, for fans this is something spectacular as previous home releases were mediocre at best with the blacks crushed and grain and print damage evident throughout totally distracting the viewer from the important details unfolding on screen. All the involving extras are ported over from previous editions but the criterion engineers provide you with two sonically different audio tracks mastered separately depending on your preference. Kudos for criterion once more on a fantastic restoration now all that's left for you to do is revisit The Game and watch it as it was intended to be seen and heard and remember what a startlingly unique and most importantly entertaining thrill ride of a movie this is. Simply Essential.
