Compact and well made, but only works in bright sunshine when the sun is high in the sky.
2 of 2 found this helpful Out of the packaging this solar charger feels well made and put together. Its about the size of an A4 page, so needs some careful planning if you are travelling light. The USB port is on the back in a little box and seems a bit vulnerable, but didn't get knocked off or anything on my bike tour around the Scottish Western Isles. Its also stiff enough to take being stuffed in a clear waterproof bag. Doesn't come with a cable but i would imagine you don't need another one of those? Does have wee carabiners to clip on the outside of a bag if that's your thing.
So, good so far. When the cells are in daylight, the USB has a little blue light inside which is nice, at least you know it's not bust.
Only issue i had was, in the early morning or late evening, the sun ain't strong enough to give 5V to charge a phone on these solar cells. Was OK in strong sunlight between 9am and 7pm as far as i could find out. In cloud, no charge happening at any time of day. My phone recognised it, but not enough voltage to actually charge. I left my camera battery to charge as i went for a stroll (supposedly takes 7V) and that charged fully at about 6-7pm in the evening. No clouds at that point, midsummer in northern Scotland. All in all, it works, but only in bright sunshine.

Good batteries
Arrived charged, then used straight away in Xmas LED lights. Last a good long time and charge up time after time, no problems. A lot cheaper than supermarket batteries.

Compellingly random weirdness
'Slaughterhouse 5' refers to the address where the hero, Billy Pilgrim survives the firestorm in Dresden in WW2 along with some other American POWs. The story is all about his adventures as he pops in and out of various times, including a spell on another planet. It's a compelling read in the same way as a lot of war books are; there is a lot of pointless death, bleakness, injustice and random weirdness.
It is also fairly short at 177 pages.
I recommend it.
