Joyo R08 R Series Cab Box - Guitar Cabinet Modelling/Impulse Response Loader& DI
    03 September 2020
    Great little unit
The Joyo Cab Box has to be one of the best value cab IR loaders available, especially considering it's features. Not only has it got a good range of pre-loaded IR's, it also allows you to load up to 10 more of your own IR choices. It also has 128 patches you can edit and create to your hearts content. When combined with the built in pre-amp, microphone and EQ sections that you can also edit extensively, if you can't come up with the sound you are after, I would be astonished. Spoiled for choice really. Additionally it has a good range of I/O's including MIDI, USB and XLR, plus standard 1/4 inch. Only potential negatives from my point of view would be that you cannot use the inbuilt Microphone choices and related settings with the 10 IR's you can self load. Having said that, if you are already happy with the sound of the IR's you are loading, you probably don't need to edit them further in any case I guess. So this is not a deal breaker. Some people may also prefer stereo I/O's. This unit is just mono, but that is fairly common across many cab emulators and mono works fine for me. Personal preference really, but if you use the unit with a modeller such as the Line 6 Pod HD Pro etc., you can use your effect loop to slot the Joyo in before a stereo effect such as reverb splits the signal anyway. So not a big issue I'd say, but depends what you are trying to achieve. Maybe you could just by 2 of them if you want 2 different cab sounds :) Overall, this is an excellent unit for the money and has been working well for me so far.
Double Layer Studio Microphone Mic Wind Screen Mask Gooseneck Shied Pop Filter:
    07 June 2018
    Excellent value, effective product
Doubt you will find a better microphone wind shield for a better price. This lightweight, but highly effective unit does just what it should. Fits easily to the mic' stand and is very adjustable So pretty much all you could ask for without spending a fortune. Only thing I am not so sure about is how long the filter mesh will last given it is not replaceable. However, it is held in place by a plastic surround, so it should be feasible to just give it an occasional rinse just to keep it in a good healthy condition. For my home studio purposes (only me using it) I would say this is just what I needed and would certainly recommend it for that purpose.
KRK Rokit 6 G3 Passive Studio Monitor Speakers R6 Unpowered Pair - Black
    21 June 2018
    Nice quality passive studio monitors
When paired with a good quality amplifier, these passive monitors (so far) seem to provide an excellent solution for monitoring your multitrack recordings in a home studio environment. I have found them to be nice and even, clear and fairly well balanced with decent stereo imaging. Had tried a pair of Alesis M1 active monitors before this and the KRK R6's are a bit of an improvement on the M1's. Note: the Alesis M1's were also pretty good (really excellent for the price), but did have a slight electronic hum that was noticeable when there was no music playing - not an issue with the KRK passive monitors of course. I need to run the KRK's in for a while longer before giving a final verdict, but I believe they are going to suit my home recording needs quite nicely. I play mostly heavier/metal style music, but with plenty of light melodic passages too, so a fairly wide musical/tonal range and these speakers seem to handle that pretty well.
