Since it’s a smaller diameter, my bet is it fails sooner then original

This cord sent is .025”-.040” less in width which is of great concern for longevity compared to the original cord as mic’ed w a caliper and also can be felt by hand. Thus, why is it not the same diameter was a smaller roll used here to save money but failure will be sooner?
